4. Uninstalling OneDrive

All in all, each of the aforementioned options might resolve certain OneDrive for business on macOS 10.14 Sharepoint sync issues, but may fail to tackle other issues that are deeply-rooted.
The following is a step-by-step guide for a OneDrive reset procedure which works for almost every issue that might hinder the use of the Microsoft OneDrive for business on macOS 10.14:
- Terminate OneDrive Processes: The first step is to cancel any OneDrive process currently running on the device. Launch the Activity Monitor app found in the Utilities folder. Locate and highlight the 'OneDrive' and “OneDrive Finder Integration” items (if both business and personal versions of the app was installed there may be two variations of the OneDrive items listed). Tap the X button atop them, and then select the 'Quit' option that pops up. If the OneDrive is still running, then select the 'Force Quit' option.
- Delete OneDrive Passwords: To reset OneDrive completely, the next course of action is to expunge all cached or stored user information, including passwords. Run the Keychain Access utility in the Utility folder, and input 'OneDrive' in the search panel on right upper corner of the utitlity’s screen. A number of items related to OneDrive will then appear, including cached credentials, FinderSync, and Hockey SDK. Delete these, and then exit the Keychain Access. Ensure that all the deleted items are directly related to OneDrive, as the Keychain Access contains a collection of encrypted items such as passwords and certificates related to other applications.
- Run the Reset OneDrive Script: To locate the Reset OneDrive script, control-click on the OneDrive app. What pops up is a Reset OneDrive - Package Content menu. Click on the “Show Package Content” option to reveal a list of folders and files in the OneDrive app. Open the “Content” folder, and locate the “Resources” folder. This is where the Reset OneDrive script is stored in. The script bears the name “ResetOneDriveApp.command”. This script runs on thr terminal and might requite admin authentication. To run the script, simply double-click it and let it run on the terminal. Once it finishes, the OneDrive app will then run like a completely new installation.

We're sorry you're having trouble syncing your files with OneDrive. Let's get the issue sorted out as quickly as possible.
Try these quick steps
It's worth a few minutes to check a few things, before trying the steps later in this article.
- Check your Internet connection - Sometimes your Internet connection drops and OneDrive needs a connection to sync. Make sure that your Mac is able to connect to the Internet properly.
- Reduce the size of any files that are over the limit - You might need to compress or resize a file so that it's less than 15 GB and try again. If you're adding a OneNote notebook, make sure each section is less than 1 GB.
- Make sure you have permissions to the file or folder you tried to add - Try to open the file or folder and make sure that you have permission to save a copy of it. If you're having problems seeing a file on a network, contact your network administrator.
- Check for files or folders with the same name in the same location - This can happen if you're uploading files on the OneDrive website at the same time, or if you made changes in your OneDrive folder on another PC that is syncing at the same time. Rename the file or folder, and then try to add it again.
Then, try these steps (click to expand)
- Click the OneDrive icon in the menu bar.
- Click Quit OneDrive.
- Use Spotlight to search for OneDrive and open it.
- For OneDrive personal, open the Mac App Store.
- Select the Update button in the toolbar.
- If an update is available for the OneDrive app, it will appear there.
Or, open the OneDrive app and check if there is an Update button showing in the app itself.
Note: For OneDrive for Business, read about how to Get started with the new OneDrive sync client on Mac OS X.
To verify that OneDrive is running, look for the OneDrive icon on the right side of the menu bar. Or, you can check from Activity Monitor:
- Launch Activity Monitor by pressing the Command and Spacebar keys and entering Activity Monitor.
- Choose the CPU tab, then look under the Process Column for OneDrive.
Example of a file path:
C:Users<UserName>PicturesSaved2014JanuaryHolidayNewYearsFamily…
The entire path, including the file name, must contain fewer than 255 characters. Shorten the name of your file or the name of subfolders in OneDrive, or select a subfolder that's closer to the top-level folder.
Once the file path is shortened, start OneDrive again. (Use Spotlight to search for OneDrive and open it.)
Uninstalling the app will remove the app settings. For apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click the app’s delete button. If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad.
After you uninstall, you can reinstall the app from the Mac App Store.
Note: For OneDrive for Business, read about how to Get started with the new OneDrive sync client on Mac OS X.
